Our History

The Corporate Relocation Council (CRC) started in the late 1970’s as a series of informal luncheons.  Because of high interest rates and associated real estate issues, Hugh Dermody, a real estate professional, decided to start inviting corporate relocation professionals to lunch in order to address the issues of the day.  As the attendance at these luncheons grew to more than a table, the meetings migrated to private restaurant areas.  Mentoring of new relocation specialists was also a high priority.  Hugh and his associates felt that it was their responsibility to "bring along" the new, young professionals.  So it all began – social and professional interaction for the purpose of mutual education and professional growth.

During the 80’s and 90’s, the membership grew to over 200 and the meetings were regularly attended by over 100 relocation professionals. During the late 90’s and after the turn of the century, CRC started to realize the value of joining forces with other relocation groups. Joint golf outings with the WERC and involvement with the Midwest ERC has been beneficial to all of the participating organizations and their members. Today, CRC is taking time to recognize it’s past by establishing the position of Historian for the purpose of recording and retaining past documents, photos and archives.
