Charitable Causes Committee 2013
The Charitable Causes Committee was formed in 2000 to encourage CRC members to engage with local charities and leverage their own charitable hearts. For 2013, the Charitable Causes Committee has committed to raising funds to support Edge Alliance Click here , St. Josephinum Academy Click here and the WERC Foundation Click here
Dear CRC Members.
As Spring begins, and we round out the first quarter, I wanted to send a BIG heart-felt thank you to all of our members for your generous auction donations and purchases this past February at our annual Charitable Causes Silent Auction! Every year, our members are getting more creative with their donations and bidding tactics! So, thank you all for leveraging your charitable hearts.
The event proved to be a tremendous day filled with fierce betting, knowledge sharing and networking with our peers. But most importantly, it served as an introduction for our community to our chosen charities for 2013, The Edge Alliance and St. Josephinum Academy. Our event raised over $12,700 for these groups. The proceeds will be disbursed between The Edge Alliance, St. Josephinum Academy, and the WERC Foundation.
Thank you again for your generosity and spirit! I am proud to be a part of this amazing group.

We welcome CRC volunteers who want to come out this summer and garden with EdgeAlliance. During this fantastic event, CRC volunteers can assist EdgeAlliance with gardening, landscaping, outdoor building maintenance and general outdoor clean-up. We are also looking for a few professional painters to volunteer their time as well. So, if you know of a great painter who wants to make a difference, please email Kate Santo, kate.santo@whrg.com.
Children ages 12 and older are also welcome to join us for this fantastic day of giving back to the community. Remember to please wear close toed shoes and clothing that is suitable for outdoor work and ok to get dirty. And…don’t forget your sunscreen!
Background: EdgeAlliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and managing affordable housing linked with on-site programs for vulnerable individuals and families. Our residential campus provides a permanent, safe home for more than 100 children, women and men living with HIV/AIDS who would otherwise be homeless. Last winter, we opened the Shawn Feeley Alpha House, our first building to serve homeless Veterans. This service project provides CRC volunteers with the opportunity to strengthen teams outside the office, get to know their co-workers and give back to a great Chicago nonprofit organization!
Charitable Causes is committed to organizing group volunteer events for CRC members throughout the year. However, CRC members are welcome to and encouraged to volunteer on an individual basis.
